Evergreen to 5m. Long spikes of yellow/bronze flowers during cooler months. Unusual gnarly growth habit - bird attracting, frost & wind tolerant full sun - hardy. Sprawling, gnarly growth habit and unusual flowers add a touch of variety to most gardens. Non invasive root structure. Excellent to attract fauna, insects. Flowers last for a prolonged period in floral arrangements.
This is a type of Australian "Bush Food" or "Bush Tucker". The flowers of Banksia varieties contain sweet nectar, and you can suck the nectar out of the flower, or soak the flowers in water to make a sweet drink.
